Darphin Niaouli Aromatic Care – Review

Winter is one of the best seasons to use oils in your skincare regiment; they add the extra level of moisture that many of us need as the skin tends to be drier due to harsh weather and heating.

The Niaouli Aromatic Care is a facial oil consisting of a blend of many oils, which is supposed to nourish, purify, and balance oily skin. The base of the oil is sesame seed oil which is rich in omega acids and antioxidants. The blend also includes rosemary, eucalyptus and lavender oils known to have a balancing and calming effect on the skin. Naturally, as the name indicates, there’s also niaouli oil which is believed to aid with bacteria and to purify skin; just like tea tree oil, but this one is less irritating and supposedly suitable for sensitive skin types. There’s also ylang-ylang oil which balances oil production and soothes the skin. Given the nature of this product, it should be no surprise that there’s fragrance in the formula. The product is non-comedogenic according to Darphin, but you never know with oils.

This oil is my favourite product from Darphin; I go back to it often. It truly makes a difference in the condition of my complexion; it’s more hydrated and less reactive. It’s a fantastic product for people with oily skin, as moisturises the skin and doesn’t clog pores. I wouldn’t expect an enormous oil or acne reduction with this product. However, it can help to keep your skin well-hydrated and clear-looking. Simply, saying it’s a product that is safe to use on acne-prone skin. It mainly moisturises, but it won’t treat acne or aggravate it (which can happen with oils). I recommend using it in small amounts or only on areas where your skin gets particularly dry, usually the U-zone, as it can exacerbate the oiliness of your face.

In my opinion, this product will be excellent to protect your skin from cold and aid with moisture loss.  From my experience, I can assure you that incorporating a facial oil that is right for your skin type can make a positive difference. There are also several other oil blends by Darphin, so if you don’t have oily or acne-prone skin, you may prefer a different product.
