This is my second favourite product from Muji, and it’s pretty similar to other Japanese cleansing oils that I have reviewed.
The ingredients list is modest; the formula is based on olive oil mixed with various components to make this product a cleanser. There’s a bit of glycerine and other ingredients found in the Sensitive Skin line, such as polyquaternium-51, grapefruit seed extract, and purslane extract. Polyquaternium-51 helps to soothe and hydrate the skin, and the purslane extract adds a mixture of antioxidants to the product. The free is of fragrance & alcohol, suitable for all skin types.
This cleansing oil is fantastic for your first cleanse; it removes everything. You just need two or three pumps of the oil and a few minutes of your time to dissolve sunscreen/makeup and all the dirt that accumulated on your face. It’s mild on the skin, and it removes even the toughest sunscreens that I’ve tried. It has never broken me out or caused me any other troubles. I think this is an excellent alternative for people who want to try the DHC Cleansing Oil, but don’t like or can’t tolerate rosemary oil. This product doesn’t contain fragrance, and its scent is of mild olive oil. The texture isn’t ultra runny; the product feels a bit more viscous than regular olive oil so it won’t drip down your face right away.
Overall, it’s a great product for cleansing removing makeup or sunscreen, and I would recommend it only for that purpose; for skin cleansing, it’s better to use something lighter like cream or gel cleanser. It’s a good choice for everyone fond of the double cleansing method. I am sure many of you will enjoy using this product.
